7 quick goal setting tips and examples from my personal goals
Life is too short to walk around being half satisfied. If you don't absolutely love waking up each morning and doing what you love, you should probably reevaluate your current situation. I'm by no means telling you to quit your job today and cause trouble for yourself but I challenge you to work out some goals or a system that would help you get to where you want to be in the future so that you would live a purposeful life.
I was never very good at setting goals for myself. I remember even in school, the teacher would ask us what we would do with $10,000 and I could never think of anything that I would LOVE to do. It was only after I tried several areas when I finally discovered what really made me excited. I simply love people and love helping people. I only recently discovered that God had wired me to love people and that I am a people person.
You can discover your purpose by narrowing down what you love and what doesn’t work for you. Surround yourself with people who will encourage you to strive for more and stay away from people who pull you and the purpose inside of you down. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish with just setting a few easy goals.

1 week goal – meaningful relationships
1 month goal – stay on track financially
3 month goal – stay on track with healthy eating and workout
6 month goal – move to Venice
1 year goal – read the entire Bible
5 year goal – be completely debt free
10 year goal – go on that mission trip I always dreamed of
What are you afraid of?
In my past I did not set goals because I was too afraid. What was I afraid of? Commitment. I felt like if I wrote it down, I would have to do it. The enemy used this to twist my mind and held me back from so much potential. I mean yes, you should write it down and do it!!!
How do i discover my purpose?
1. Pray for God to reveal it
2. Step out in faith
3. Work on goals regularly
4. Seek wisdom from others
5. Get plugged into a community/local church
It may take some time to discover what your purpose is. Sometimes what God puts on your heart may not come into fruition until the appointed time. For me it was stepping out in faith and by trying new things. I discovered what I loved and what I didn’t like, I learned what I was capable of and what I was not good at. This helped me narrow down the goals I needed to set for my future.
I was introduced to a planner by one of my good friends and I use it regularly. It is set up with questions to draw out whats inside of a persons heart. I guess that’s why I love writing so much because it helps me discover what's in my heart.

We were given a very short span on earth. Even my kid’s think that time goes by way too fast. We should focus on our purpose and live each day to our fullest potential, being content with every step of our progress. I hope that my tools will help you discover some of your own goals and future dreams so that you would pursue a purposeful life.
