What is my purpose? This is the question so many people are asking themselves.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
God "had" predestined a purpose in each one of us before we were formed. For Jeremiah, his purpose was to be a prophet. Jesus had a purpose to save the world. Jesus’s mother had a purpose to carry Him in her womb and together with Joseph, to bring Jesus up in their home. Moses had a purpose to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land.
Everything that you are dealing with now will bring you into a full circle of what God wants to do through you. Moses had been hidden in Egypt for a time. However, because of the purpose in him and the burden he felt for his people, he could no longer bare the abuse his people experienced, so he killed an Egyptian. This lead him to flee Egypt in order to spare his own life. God allowed all those things to happen to fulfill and prepare Moses for leading the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt. We see how it came back to a full circle when the time came, Moses returned to Egypt to fulfill the purpose he was created for.
God created us for a specific purpose and everything that we experience in life will lead us to it. I look back at everything that happened in my life and how God orchestrated everything for His perfect will and purpose. We had to wait for 4 years before God gave us our first child. God’s timing was perfect because He wanted us to get involved with the youth before He gave us a child. So while we were waiting for God to give us our son, we became chaperones for many youth events. After we had our first child, I realized that I really loved to help at church and to be involved. I was volunteering and doing what ever needed to be done, even washing the kitchen floor at church. I have the gift of hospitality, so I had people over every weekend and I served them food. All the things that I did, I did it with a generous heart and because it brought me happiness. I was always willing, seeking, and opened to whatever God wanted me to do without realizing that God had been preparing me for more. With that, I was asked to be the coordinator for our couple’s ministry and I enjoyed it very much. Everything that I had been involved in WHOLEHEARDEDLY got me closer to my purpose.
After my worship experience, I started seeking God like never before. It lead me to start a small group because I needed accountability in studying the Bible. This group went on for 5 years and we covered the entire New Testament together. God put on my heart to pray all of our small group out; so we could do work for the Lord and live entirely for Him. My heart transformed completely. I was slowly becoming the Word that I was studying. God gave me a burden for my household and helped me to become a better wife and mom. Then I began to see things I could do in my church, so I started working with teenage girls and later started a women’s ministry. Many people did not understanding where I was coming from with my passion as I had not been involved with these types of ministries where I lead people in a deeper understanding of God. I think that everyone was so used to me being "the servant girl" so I had to deal with a lot of conflicts from people. At that time I too didn’t understand everything that was happening to me and how God was leading me. But with every single step, like with our fathers and mothers: Abraman, Moses, Eve, and Ester, God had a purpose for me. Today I still don’t understand exactly what God wants me to do. I do know that I want to do God's will. I am taking it one step at a time and being obedient to how He is leading me.
I hope that my testimony has opened your eyes to see a bigger picture of why you are going through what you are going through and maybe help you to see what He is about to do. That’s so exciting!!!!
Next week I will be talking to you about how to discover your purpose and God's timing. Love you guys! Until next week
