3 Steps to having joy, peace and patience while you wait

1.   Get on with your life

I found myself waiting each month to see if I was pregnant only to get disappointed month after month. So I DECIDED to get on with my life. I applied to a college, and got heavily involved in my local church. This put my mind at ease because I took the focus off of my situation and found a way to distract my mind.

Sometimes the reason why we drive ourselves crazy is because we have too much free time to think, and I am sure that I don’t have to tell you where our minds can go. We can make ourselves physically sick if we allow our minds to “go there”. I was so happy that God gave me wisdom to move on with my life and allow God to do His work in His time. Several years later, our son was born and the year after that, our daughter.

2.   Making peace with the answer “no” or “not yet”

When we don't get what we want from our parents, we typically fuss around for a bit, showing them how upset we are with their decision. Sometimes we may even let them know a piece of our minds to show that their answer had been unfair. We may even give them the silent treatment. However, shortly after our "boohoo party", we run back into their arms to be loved and to love them back. It’s ok to disagree or to be upset with Gods decision for a short time. In fact, I think that we should express our feelings of sadness, disappointed, or even anger as long as it's for a short time. The only way to deal with this is talk to the one who can comfort us in a time of our despair.

3.   Worship while waiting

Worshiping God in the midst of chaos takes the callus off of our hearts. We were created with the purpose of worship, so when we take off the focus from ourselves and place it on God, we are in line with Gods perfect will for our lives.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1,2

You might ask: How do I worship if I am so upset or if I cannot see what’s ahead of me or think that the situation is unfair? I would agree with you. Yes our circumstances suck sometimes but I can tell you that when both my husband and I lost our jobs, without realizing what I was doing, I fell on my knees and worshiped God. My physical actions didn't make any sense. I mean, who praises the Lord for looking their job? So because I did that, i know that something shifted in the spiritual realm. From that moment, my life began to completely transform.

Where are you in your waiting?

Don't let the enemy rob you of this revelation: "God only wants the best for you"'. He loves you so much that He GAVE His one and only son for you. God created you as a reflection of Himself and He doesn't like to see you suffer, but because of the circumstance on earth: sin, this ruined the entire plan of God. Believe that God made a way out from sin, through Jesus, where we get to experience freedom, peace, love, joy, and patience.

Where are you in your waiting? Have you over-stayed your time in the “silent treatment” with God? It's time to come back and accept the love, joy, and peace that only He can offer. God knows what and when you need it, so if things are not making sense in your life, I can totally understand. Things often don't make sense. One thing I do know that when we hold on to Jesus, we can withstand even the harshest trials. I pray that God gives you joy, peace, and patience in what ever you are going through, hold on to Jesus friend.
