Do you despise waiting?

What if I told you that what you are going through is really not for you but so that the works of God might be displayed in your situation (John 9:3). We see it over and over again in the Bible. Lazarus had to die so that Jesus could resurrect him. When the question arose about the blind man, people wanted to know whose fault it had been that the man was born blind. The reason was for Gods power to manifest. No one can dismiss the hardship nor validity of your current situation. It is difficult to wait when you know whats coming. It is especially difficult when you don't know what you are waiting for or what the future looks like for you. Regardless, God has everything under control. I really mean it. We don't have to figure it all out but accept that God has the last word. Lets allow Him to be God day by day.

Live while you wait! there is no reason to put your life on hold while you wait for what God is about to do in your life.

Some answers

Why do good things happen to good people? There is no real answer but that no matter who we are, we live in a fallen world and experience the evil that is here on earth.

God has been teaching me that a lot of the things that I go through and have gone through in the past had nothing to do with me but everything to do with God himself as well as with showing my behavior to people around me.

Don't let them win

As the human race, we are evil and are in need of Jesus to make us holy and righteous. Sad to say but some people are waiting for us to fail miserebly in life. I want to encourage you not to give them the honor to see you fail. Whatever you are going through right now, maybe a health issue, financial crisis, relationship problem, or you have just been given a bad report and feel like others around you are not being very hopeful or helpful. They are like bystanders, watching and waiting for how you will act and react to your situation.

People around Paul expected him to get hurt or even die because the snake that got on his arm was poisonous. They began to make up false stories because they watched this situation unfold before their very eyes. People could not understand how he managed to escape catastrophe two times. First the storm and then the snake. What was supposed to make him sick or kill him, instead made others question Pauls being. They wondered if he was a god. Of course that was a perfect opportunity for people to come to God.

The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god. Acts 28:6

We need to learn to embrace the waiting process and see how God is working in the midst of our circumstances. I don't know why God has me waiting on things throughout my life. I am guessing that maybe I have not come to terms with it since He has me waiting once again. Or maybe He wants to make sure that He is given the proper glory after it is unfolded. We had made a decision to get out of debt and put our house on the market. Logically it makes sense and I could not see why God would not want this for us as well. However, 9 months now and not a single offer has come in. It has been difficult waiting and hoping for a better future. Sometimes it is hard to believe when nothing is changing.

How do I deal with it

At times I do despise the waiting process while other days I accept my current situation. I have had days where I wondered if God even heard my prayer. Those are the days when I need to stand firm to the promises so I take out my Bible or my journal and remind myself all the promises that God had made.

When we went to the Ark this summer in KY, God brought my attention to a time factor in our lives. Sometimes we need to ride out the storm while other times we need to wait.

Wait out the storm friend. Just like Paul, who had survived a deadly storm yet found himself in another catostropic situation. It seemed like he was not getting a break at all. But he didn't allow his surroundings to defeat him, he had been stead fast and held on to God. Paul shook off the deadly sneak. What do you need to shake off today? Guilt, shame, condemnation, pain, hurt, disapproval. Don't despise waiting, your situation will turn around in Gods favor even though it may not seem like you are getting a break. God is on your side and not only will you get through this situation but God will use it to glorify His name and others will change their minds about who God really is when they see how you carried yourself through it all.
